Jim’s funeral took place on Friday 3rd January 2025 at St Martins of Tours Church, Chelsfield, an occasion of which I’m sure Jim would have been very proud. The car park was full to capacity and Church Lane just about took care of the overflow. The hearse arrived with Jim’s coffin draped with the Union Flag and was met by a four man escort comprising Peter Brown MBE, Tony Luckens BEM, Jim Ross and Stephen Gilkes and led by Standard Bearers Lou Sartorel (RMA National), Chas Timms MBE (City of London Branch), Paul Hardy (Deal Branch), John Farley (PTI Branch) and Sam Leighton (Hanworth Branch). The cortege led by Joy, sons Chris and Mick, their family and friends proceeded into the church through a Guard of Honour of some thirty former Royal Marines under the direction of former Corps RSM Phil Gilby, a fitting tribute to a much loved comrade............
